Privacy Notice for NQTs

Who we are

We are Wycombe and Marlow Teaching School Alliance, a TSA as designated by the DfE, with Chepping View Primary Academy as its lead school. For the purposes of Data Protection legislation, Chepping View Primary Academy is the Data Controller for data held as part of providing NQT training and Appropriate Body services.

How we will use your information

NQT Training

We will receive your personal data from your school in order to secure your place on NQT training and send out booking information and training materials. In addition, we may share your work email with 1-2 other NQTs on the programme in order to facilitate an ‘NQT swap’ as part of the programme.

Appropriate Body

We will receive your personal data from your school in order to register you for our Appropriate Body Induction service, claim you for induction on the Database of Qualified Teachers and to report your induction outcomes to the Teacher Regulation Agency, an arm of the DfE.

The personal data we will be using

Please see the list below. Not all of types of data processed by us are intrinsically considered to be personal data. However, these data are in all cases associated with personal identifiers (eg name and email address), data protection legislation considers them to be personal data.

NQT Training: Name, School, Year Group and email

Appropriate Body: Name, DoB, TRN, School, Teaching Qualification, Year Group, Email, Attendance.

The purpose of the information sharing

The purpose of processing this data is to allow us to: • Register an NQT with the Teaching Regulation Agency • Register the outcome of induction with the Teaching Regulation Agency • Correspond with individuals about induction procedures and processes •Correspond with individuals about NQT CPD • Review completed formal assessments and communicate with NQTs and schools about these assessments • Produce anonymised reports of NQT numbers, phase, subjects and training providers for WAM Teaching School Meetings • Contact an individual or school regarding their NQT training/Induction progress • Ensure that all NQTs registered have Qualified Teacher Status • Ensure that the timescales for assessment due dates are recorded correctly • Ensure that any induction completed previously is taken into account • Review NQT Induction forms and support plans to ensure adequate support is being provided to the NQT in cases where concerns have been raised • Provide previous assessment forms to schools where an NQT moves schools during the induction period • Ensure that where support meetings have taken place the relevant records are available for future reference • To monitor when an extension to an NQT Induction period may be required due to the maximum number of days’ absence being exceeded

Why this data sharing is lawful

We only collect and use personal information about you when the law allows us to. WAM is a Teaching School Alliance and carries out its work in the public interest, also known as ‘Public Task’. We operate under the statutory frameworks of English educational legislation, and specifically the Education Act 2011. The Education Act 2011 is founded on the principals and proposals in the DfE November 2010 White Paper, The Importance of Teaching, in which the government stated its intention to develop a national network of Teaching Schools to lead on Initial Teacher Training, Continuing Professional Development and School to School Support. WAM is an Appropriate Body for NQT Induction and operates under the Statutory Guidance for NQT Induction.

How is the data stored and for how long

NQT Training

Data relating to NQT training is stored for the academic year in which the training takes place. After that the data is deleted from our systems.

Appropriate Body

Data relating to induction is stored for 6 years after the completion of the induction period as stated in the DfE guidance. Reports submitted through NQT Manager are stored electronically for the 7 year period (1 year induction plus 6 years). All data is stored electronically. We do not keep paper copies.
